Let’s not beat around the bush. It wasn’t a great start to the morning for Detroit Lions fans. Many woke up to the news that Matthew Stafford is in considerable pain and that pain may or may not have to do with the dreaded back injury that drew a lot of offseason news.
The good news is he’s active. The bad news is a lot of other key players are not.
Darius Slay. Out.
Da’Shawn Hand. Out.
Mike Daniels. Out.
Danny Amendola. Out.
It’s a tough break for a Lions team trying to pull of its third upset in a row, but the good news is not many were marking this game as a win in the offseason and after a solid 2-0-1 start, you could argue the Lions are playing with some house money before their Week 5 bye.
But this is the NFL and each week we’re reminded of the term Any Given Sunday. This game isn’t decided until it is actually decided. Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched. Maybe Matt Patricia has another defensive scheme up his sleeve to slow Patrick Mahomes
