Detroit Lions rookie tight end T.J. Hockenson had to be carted off of the field against the Kansas City Chiefs after suffering what looks to be a serious injury in the third quarter.

The injury was sustained when the tight end attempted to hurdle a defender after making a catch and running up field. His legs crashed into the defender, causing him to take a hard fall. His shoulder and head both crashed into the turf.

While he was carted off the field, Hockenson was able to stand up and walk on to the cart himself.

The tight end had three catches for 27 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game with an injury.

Hockenson joins safety Quandre Diggs and cornerback Mike Ford as players the team lost due to injury sustained during the game. Cornerback Darius Slay and wide receiver Danny Amendola missed the game through injury as well.

The type and severity of the injury is still unknown, but the team reported that the tight end is being evaluated for a concussion.
