The Detroit Lions took Thursday as an opportunity for a walk-through before heading into the weekend for their Week 1 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon. So the Lions’ injury report for Thursday was estimated, while the Cardinals were a full go.
For the Lions, that meant no changes to their injury list. Jarrad Davis, Trey Flowers, Da’Shawn Hand, Rashaan Melvin and Frank Ragnow were all listed as limited.
The Cardinals, however, had an addition to their report. Starting right tackle Marcus Gilbert was limited on Thursday with a knee injury. Gilbert missed a string of practices during training camp and has dealt with injuries his entire career. In the past two seasons, Gilbert has played in just 12 games. Though it’s too early to tell if he’ll miss Sunday’s game, it has to be a little concerning to the Cardinals to see him on the injury report already.
In addition to Gilbert, former first-round pick Haason Reddick was limited for the second straight day. Reddick had surgery after injuring his knee on the first day of training camp. He missed all of the preseason and returned to practice just last week. His status for Sunday appears unknown, as well.
“He’s had a limited role and we’re hopeful he can continue to progress,” Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said last week. “I’m not sure it will be Week 1 and hopefully in the not too distant future he’ll be out there going full speed.”
