VIDEO: ‘Talkin with T.J.’ returns, updates on T.J. Lang’s retirement

IT’S BACK, Y’ALL, AND MAYBE EVEN BETTER.

NFL: Pro Bowl-NFC Practice Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Now just a day away from the Detroit Lions’ season debut, there are so many important questions we hope to finally get an answer to. Will Darrell Bevell finally take Matthew Stafford to an elite level? Can Matt Patricia put an ugly coaching debut behind him? Can the Detroit Lions put together an elite defense like the one that carried them into the postseason in 2014? Will “Talkin’ with T.J.” have a third season despite the retirement of T.J. Lang?

Well, worry not, because we already got the answer to that final question. “Talkin’ with T.J.” debuted on Friday night, and it’s just as good as ever:

Only this time, things are a little different.

T.J. Hockenson kicks off the episode seamlessly pretending like the show was always his.

“This is season three, episode one,” Hockenson nonchalantly says. “I missed you guys, I missed having fun with you guys, and I’m ready to get back to another season.”

Then Lang makes his triumphant return and shuts it all down with a kick of his chair.

Then “Talkin’ with T.J.” transforms into something else entirely, as Lang takes us through what he’s been up to since retiring from football. It looks like a lot of hanging around, humming “Old Town Road,” and embarrassing his daughter, who is absolutely adorable.

Is this the start of a new series, “Goin’ Nuts with T.J. Lang?” Well, they already clearly have the sponsorship, so we can only hope so.

Either way, I’m glad we got at least one more episode.
