The New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions may both be 1-2, but expectations for the teams couldn’t be any different going forward. Lions fans are still very much skeptical of this team and the direction it’s headed, while Saints fans expect to rebound and compete in a questionable NFC South division.

Both teams can use the excuse that their losses came against good teams. Both the Bears and the Packers are 3-0 for Detroit, while the Packers and Raiders are a combined 5-1 for the Saints.

We know the Detroit Lions try to accommodate their struggling defense with a ball-control offense that strings out possessions with a solid running game. However, the Saints may have the best run defense they’ve faced all year, plus an electric offense capable of big plays. Is this the week the Lions open up their offense and get aggressive, or will they maintain their conservative play style?

And what can we make of New Orleans’ struggles defending the pass or the narrative that Drew Brees is washed? How impacted by injuries will the Saints be this week?

We tried to answer as many of these questions as we could on this week’s First Byte preview podcast. With special guest Maddie Hadak from Canal Street Chronicles, we get the inside look into the Saints offseason and how it has manifested itself through three weeks of the 2020 season.
