The Detroit Lions are coming out of the bye week about as healthy as one could expect. Not only are three players returning to practice from the injured reserve list, but their Wednesday injury report for Week 6’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars is quite short.
Only two player missed practice: tight end Hunter Bryant and cornerback Desmond Trufant. Bryant has not played a game yet this year due to a hamstring injury, but this week he is in concussion protocol. As for Trufant, the Lions’ starting cornerback left Detroit’s game against the Saints with a hamstring injury and did not return. Trufant has played in just two games this season, with youngsters Amani Oruwariye and Jeff Okudah getting most of the playing time at outside corner.
The only other new injury to the list is that of starting center Frank Ragnow, who was limited on Wednesday with a groin injury. It’s unclear if this injury was suffered during practice, during Week 4 or sometime in between. But it’s definitely something to keep an eye on. The Lions don’t have a pure backup center, but a few players are certainly capable of it.
