Lions-Jaguars final Week 6 injury report: Frank Ragnow questionable

More shakeups on the offensive line may be upcoming.

The Detroit Lions may have to wait at least another week to get their ideal starting lineup on the offensive line all ready to go. On the week the Lions got their starting left guard Joe Dahl back at practice—though he remains on IR—starting center Frank Ragnow suffered a groin injury and is officially questionable for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It’s unclear who Detroit’s replacement for Ragnow will be, but the most likely scenario appears to be activating Dahl from injured reserve and slotting him in the middle of the line. Lions head coach Matt Patricia said on Friday that he was impressed with how Dahl looked after returning to injury:

“I thought on Wednesday with the pads on, I thought Joe looked pretty good,” Patricia said. “Came out, his pad level was good, I thought he moved well, that was a good, competitive practice for us.

If that’s the plan, the Lions could keep the rest of the offensive line as it has been for the past two weeks: Jonah Jackson at left guard, Halapoulivaati Vaitai at right guard and Tyrell Crosby at right tackle.

However, there is some hope for Ragnow. After missing Thursday’s practice, he was officially listed as a “limited” participant on Friday. However, local reporters said he was not doing much during the first 15 minutes of practice open to the media. Since the Lions are traveling to Jacksonville this week, we may know more on Saturday, as teams downgrade a player to OUT if they do not travel with team.

Elsewhere, running back Adrian Peterson returned to practice and is off the injury report while Desmond Trufant missed his third straight practice and is officially out for Week 6.

Additionally, tight end Hunter Bryant was placed on injured reserve this week, leaving a roster spot open for someone to return (most likely Dahl).

For the Jaguars, it was pretty much all good news. Three starters are off the injury report completely, meaning LB Myles Jack, CB CJ Henderson and WR Laviska Shenault are all expected to play this week. Additionally, top receiver DJ Chark Jr. returned to practice on Friday in a limited fashion. Chark is officially listed as questionable, but here’s what head coach Doug Marrone said, per ESPN’s Michael DiRocco:

“I feel good about DJ. He practiced on a limited basis today but we ran some routes in the team periods and looked good.”

The big question is around defensive end Josh Allen. The former first-round pick returned to practice after missing last week, but he has been limited all week. However, he did NOT practice on Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. He may be another week away from playing.
