Gameday is here, and the Detroit Lions’ future may hold in the balance of Sunday’s events. With the seat under head coach Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn hotter than ever, a loss to the 1-4 Jacksonville Jaguars is nothing short of unacceptable. All is quiet from Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp, so it’s unclear how eager she’d be to make a midseason change, but the pressure would sure be on should Detroit lose this week.
But with their next seven games all looking winnable, this game could also prove to be the start of a big rebound for the Lions. They’ve dug themselves into quite a 1-3 hole, but if the team goes streaking here, who knows what can happen?
Of course the Jaguars are likely saying all of the same things. They’re probably not a contender this year, but they’re likely going into this game thinking it’s quite winnable. Both teams share a struggling defense and an offense with potential. Does that mean we’re in for a shootout or will teams try to stretch out possessions in order to keep their defense off the field?
Our staff is not feeling too optimistic despite Vegas’ 3-point line in favor of the Lions. Only four of 13 staff members are picking the Lions this week. Take a look:
