The Lions have had a few budding young stars in recent years, but haven’t always been great at keeping them around (see: Graham Glasgow, 2020). This year, the Lions have a chance to turn that around and get it right by keeping Tracy Walker and Kenny Golladay around, both of whom are due for extensions soon after budding as former third-round picks.
Question of the day: Would you rather pay Kenny Golladay or Tracy Walker?
My answer: probably Walker.
I think it’s a lot more difficult to hit on talent at safety compared to Golladay. Likewise, right now Golladay would likely get paid elite-level money (even though he isn’t) whereas Walker would be getting second-tier money at best, and that’s much better bang for your buck.
After Golladay has taken over as the Lions’ clear-cut number one WR this year and his not-so-cryptic Instagram post, it’s clear the Lions will have to pay up if they want to keep Golladay around.
I think you’re much better off paying that money to someone like Allen Robinson. It won’t happen though, because we all know how much Bob Quinn loves his big, incapable-of-creating-separation wide receivers.
