A game against the Jacksonville Jaguars has injected a measure of hope back into the Detroit Lions. It may not be much, and it comes with the caveat that it was against the Jaguars after all, but a win is a win at this point in the NFL.
Nevertheless, the Lions need to show they can continue to keep up the work against bad teams. Thankfully, we’ll know soon if they can or cannot, because the Falcons, at 1-5, absolutely qualify as a bad team. Their coach is long gone and the team is just treading water. But they will have Julio Jones, and the Lions won’t have Desmond Trufant.
The Lions have plenty to prove on Sunday, and we’re all going to be watching to see if they can flip the script on the 2020 season. A fight back to a .500 record won’t resolve all the ills for the team, but it will inject a measure of confidence.
