The Detroit Lions held a walkthrough practice on Wednesday to kick off their preparation for Week 8’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. Head coach Matt Patricia said the team wanted to slow things down a bit, and take care of themselves physically at this point in the season.
“We’re kind of at eight-week mark of the season, about half-way through about this time,” Patricia said on Wednesday. “Trying to do a good job of taking care of everybody’s bodies today. We’ll get back at it on the practice field tomorrow, but a big mental day for us here today.”
And while I’m sure most players appreciate the day of physical rest, the Lions are actually in a very good spot when it comes to overall health. The team had just one injury on their official report Wednesday. Cornerback Desmond Trufant remains out of practice with his lingering hamstring injury.
Last week, Trufant was seen working with trainers on the side of practice, so he may be nearing a return. However, it may be another week or two before Detroit gets their veteran cornerback back on the field.
Jalen Reeves-Maybin also did not practice on Wednesday, but it was not injury related, and the Lions confirmed it is also not COVID-19 related.
As for the Colts, they, too, don’t have much going on with injuries. Like the Lions, they spent the day giving plenty of players some rest. Here’s a look at each team’s full injury report. (We highlighted the ones that are actually injuries)
