In spite of a well-needed victory last week, confidence among Detroit Lions fans remains low with regards to their 1-2 team. With the Lions heading to their early bye, they will need to prove what happened in Arizona wasn’t just a fluke and/or catching Kyler Murray in a bad game.
The New Orleans Saints, meanwhile, have been largely disappointing to start the year. Injuries abound, and team is down six starters for Sunday’s bout. It remains to be seen if Drew Brees has truly fallen or if he’s just off to a slow start for the season.
Both teams are coming into Detroit in desperate need for a win to get back on track, offset narratives, things of that nature. Of course, only one can win—unless we have a repeat of the Bengals-Eagles game from Week 3. That’s totally possible; the only question is to which coach would punt in overtime with 19 seconds left.
Would a 2-2 Lions team even inspire new confidence in fans? Would it continue to look very suspect, or will fans be back on board for the time being? And with a bye week in sight, can the Lions piece it all together? We’re about to find out.
