GAME ON! Saints COVID re-test comes back negative, Lions will play Sunday

It appears the league is dealing with another false positive test.

After a tense Saturday overnight, the Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints Week 4 game will go on as planned. After fullback Michael Burton reportedly tested positive from a test administered Saturday morning, the Saints retest of Burton and subsequent testing of all the players that had come into contact with Burton all returned negative on Sunday morning according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. This seems to indicate that Burton’s initial test was a false positive.

As a result, the league has informed both the Saints and Lions that Sunday’s game will go on as planned, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

This situation added to an already complicated week for the NFL in relations to COVID-19. The Titans are dealing with a full-on outbreak that has seen 20 employees test positive over the last week. Additionally, the Patriots-Chiefs game has been postponed a few days after Cam Newton returned a positive test over the weekend.

Thankfully, it appears neither the Lions nor the Saints are experiencing an outbreak. So, game on!
