Wednesday open thread: Which Lions player has been the best surprise this season?

Let’s focus on the bright spots.

NFL: Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

The Lions are a mess. Matthew Stafford isn’t himself, the defense doesn’t wanna defend, Marvin Jones Jr. is borderline nonexistent, and the coaching staff keeps shooting themselves in the foot. Now that that’s out of the way, let’s focus on the bright spots.

Which Lions player has been the best surprise this year?

We all know the answer is Jack Fox, but I’ve barred myself from giving him awards in my articles otherwise I’d never pick anyone else.

My answer: Jonah Jackson.

Jackson has stepped in and excelled as a pro, leading the way for a new and improved Lions running game. Jackson is holding his own, especially compared to other offensive lineman, and even when you consider they slid him over to left guard after he was excelling at right guard. Jackson has proven his worth from the get-go and is quietly one of the best offensive players for the Lions this season.

Your turn.
