It’s hard to believe we’re already heading into Week 10 of the NFL season. It been a strange season in many ways, but unfortunately for the Lions, losing games is an all-too-familiar scenario.
Surprisingly, after two straight losses, the Lions are actually favored heading into this week’s game against the Washington Football Team. But that’s more of a lack of confidence in Washington than it is a vote for the Lions.
It Washington, it’s a bit of a mess. The Washington Football Team benched their former number one pick, quarterback Dwayne Haskins, lost backup Kyle Allen to season-ending surgery, and are now starting Alex Smith, who returned to football after 17 surgeries and nearly losing his life following a gruesome leg injury in 2018.
Washington has struggled on offense all season. And that brings us to today’s question of the day:
What is the Lions’ best matchup vs. Washington?
My answer: Pass defense
It feels odd to choose pass defense as a strength when the Lions just gave up 220 yards, three touchdowns, and a season-high quarterback rating 141.7 to Kirk Cousins last Sunday, but that’s where we are.
Matthew Stafford has been too turnover prone the last few weeks for me choose anyone on the offense, and Washington is just bad enough for the Lions defense to potentially shine on Sunday.
Your turn.
