Lions Thursday injury report: T.J. Hockenson sits with toe injury

The Lions could be down their two biggest offensive weapons this week.

As Detroit Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay remains sidelined with a hip injury, the team could be missing another key weapon this week against the Washington Football Team. Tight end T.J. Hockenson missed Thursday’s practice with a toe injury after not appearing on the injury report the week prior.

Notable for Hockenson is that he showed up on the injury report last week with a toe injury, but he was just limited for a day before being a full participant on Thursday and Friday. This week, however, is the first time he’s fully missed a practice this season, putting into doubt his availability this week.

Hockenson has been one of the Lions’ most consistent players thus far in 2020. He’s had at least 50 receiving yards or one touchdown in every single game this season and currently ranks sixth in receiving yards among NFL tight ends (360) and fifth in touchdowns (5).

The good news for Detroit is that several players are trending in the right direction. Defensive tackle Nick Williams and offensive lineman Halapoulivaati Vaitai returned to practice after missing Wednesday. Everson Griffen was back, too, after missing Wednesday with a non-injury issue. Additionally, cornerback Jeff Okudah, defensive tackle Danny Shelton, cornerback Mike Ford, safety Tracy Walker and offensive tackle Tyrell Crosby were all full participants on Thursday after being limited.

Here’s a look at the Lions’ entire injury report for Wednesday.

For Washington, the big news is that running back Antonio Gibson was a full participant in Thursday’s practice after sitting Wednesday wit h a shoulder injury. This seems to suggest he will play—and likely start—on Sunday.
