Week 8 proved to be a head scratcher. Upsets and surprise results dominated the week, and it truly reminded us that anything can happen on any given Sunday.
Upsets and Surprises
The week started with the Atlanta Falcons doing something that felt impossible, they held onto a late fourth quarter lead. After finding every way imaginable to lose this season, their defense finally managed to hold on during the final drive against the Carolina Panthers, holding on to a 25-17 win.
Sunday saw a wave of upsets. The Tennessee Titans, who took the top ranked Pittsburgh Steelers the distance a week earlier, fell to a bottom-tier Cincinnati Bengals team despite strong performances from Derrick Henry and Corey Davis.
Another team that has made a home for themselves at the bottom of power rankings this season, the Minnesota Vikings, pulled of a huge upset victory this week as well. Dalvin Cook had a career day scoring four touchdowns and amassing over 200 yards from scrimmage. The running back carried the Vikings, scoring all of his teams points in a 28-22 victory over a Green Bay Packers teams that looked like they could runaway with the division.
Tua Tagovailoa was the talk of the town in South Beach this week, as the rookie (and his 100% career completion record entering the week) made his first ever NFL start this week, but it was Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff who proved to be the Miami Dolphins hero. Goff threw two interceptions and lost two fumbles as the Rams could never really get going in a 28-17 loss.
