Detroit Lions defensive end Trey Flowers suffered an undisclosed injury on Sunday that quickly landed him on injured reserve this week. With new injured reserve rules, it’s possible that Flowers could come back after just three games missed, but with no information on his injury, it was hard to know.
However, we got a small piece of information on Friday, and, unfortunately, it isn’t great news. According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Flowers was spotted at practice with a sling on his right arm.
The Athletic’s Chris Burke adds that he may have seen a wrap on Flowers’ wrist.
Obviously, that’s only a small piece of information, and it’s impossible to know exactly what that means for Flowers’ future in 2020. But a sling is never exactly a good look for Flowers. In the meantime, newly-added Everson Griffen will likely take up some of the snaps left by Flowers’ absence.
In other injury news, Kenny Golladay, Jamal Agnew, Joe Dahl and Tracy Walker all missed Friday’s practice, and you have to imagine all are unlikely to play this Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. We’ll see their official injury designations later on Friday when the team drops their practice report.
