Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings first half open thread

Come hang out with us for the Lions’ Week 9 game.

NFL: Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings Harrison Barden-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions have not been much of a contender in the NFL as of late, and they’ve been downright irrelevant in their own division. Last year, not only did they finish in last place in the NFC North, but they didn’t win a single game against the Bears, Packers or Vikings.

This year is off to a similar start. The Lions have dropped games to the Packers and Bears, and if they lose again on Sunday, they’ll be 0-3 in the division and tied for last place in the North.

But it’s not all bad news. Matthew Stafford managed to work his way off the reserve/COVID-19 list and will play on Sunday. Additionally, they be playing a banged-up Vikings team that will be extra shorthanded in the secondary. Minnesota is just 2-5 themselves, and while they may be better than that record suggests, I don’t think anyone would confuse them as a good team this year.

So can the Lions rebound after last week’s embarrassing game against the Colts, or could we be seeing the beginning of a tailspin?

Come watch the first half of Lions vs. Vikings with us and chat below.

I’ll also be providing live commentary with a bunch of special guests this week on the Super Squares Twitch channel. Joining me will be former Vikings center Matt Birk, former Packers running back Ahman Green and my good friend Jonathan Blevins. You can watch that stream over at twitch.tv/supersquares or via the embedded video below this text.
