As expected, Detroit Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay, cornerback Jeff Okudah and right tackle Tyrell Crosby have all been declared out for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers. All three players failed to get healthy enough to practice a single time this week. For Golladay, this will be the sixth-straight game he’s missed. For Okudah, it will be his third-straight absence.
There is some good news, however. Rookie running back D’Andre Swift was a full participant in practice for the first time in weeks and is officially listed as questionable. Earlier in the day, interim head coach Darrell Bevell said Swift was trending in the right direction to play this week, and all signs point to him making his return on Sunday.
There was one new injury to report for the Lions, and it could be an impactful one. Rookie defensive tackle John Penisini was added to the injury report with a shoulder injury and is listed as questionable. Detroit is already severely shorthanded at defensive tackle, as Danny Shelton is on injured reserve, and Da’Shawn Hand has missed the past three games with a groin injury. He, too, is listed as questionable.
If Hand and/or Penisini can’t go, the Lions will have to rely heavily on Nick Williams, Kevin Strong and Frank Herron. Both Strong and Herron were added to the 53-man roster earlier this month.
