The Detroit Lions will finally have rookie running back D’Andre Swift back this week. Swift is ACTIVE for the first time since Week 10 against the Washington Football Team, when he made his first career start.
It’s unclear how big Swift’s role will be this week, as the Lions may want to ease him back into the lineup. However, interim head coach Darrell Bevell noted that the more he can practice during the week, the more opportunities he could get on Sundays.
“If you only get to practice on the end of the week on a Friday, then it’s probably going to be a little bit more of a limited role,” Bevell said. “If you get a full week’s practice, then there’s going to be, obviously, more opportunity for you to do more.”
Swift was limited on Wednesday and Thursday, but he was given a full workload on Friday, suggesting he could have a bigger role for Detroit this week against the Green Bay Packers.
Also good news for Detroit, defensive tackles Da’Shawn Hand and John Penisini are ACTIVE despite being listed as questionable.
