VIDEO: Matthew Stafford earning national praise for ridiculous no-look pass vs. Titans

If you haven’t seen it yet, you have to see this.

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford earned plenty of praise—both from analysts and teammates—for his gutsy performance on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. At the beginning of the week, no one expected the veteran to take the field due to his painful rib injury. Not only did Stafford fight through the injury and the pain to play on Sunday, but he played a heck of a game, too.

However, merely participating in the game somehow wasn’t Stafford’s best accomplishment in the game. No, his most impressive feat on Sunday came toward the end of the first quarter, when Stafford capped of a 14-play drive with this fantastic, 2-yard touchdown throw to Marvin Jones Jr.

The pass was impressive enough on its own. Stafford slings it just barely between Titans linebacker Rashaan Evans and safety Kevin Byard. It’s an impossibly-small window, and Stafford needled the ball in there with the kind of perfection we’ve now become accustomed to seeing.

However, that’s just part of the story. As it turns out, this was yet another one of Patrick Mahomes’ Stafford’s patented no-look passes. Go ahead, watch it again, but this time from the all-22 angle:

And this isn’t just Stafford showing off for no reason. The usage of his eyes draws Evans (#54) to the left, opening up the tiniest of windows for Stafford to zip it into. You can really see how effective this fake was—and how ridiculous this pass is—at the moment of release of Stafford’s pass:

Thankfully, this ridiculous play has not gone unnoticed. As first popularized by the tweet from PFF’s Sam Monson, the play has since spread like wildfire on Twitter:

Remember, don’t take this guy for granted in the final two weeks of the season.
