Last week, we interviewed NFL insider and Houston Texans beat writer Aaron Wilson, and he revealed that he believed former Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff is the front-runner to earn the Detroit Lions’ general manager job this offseason.
So this week we made sure to get an expert on Dimitroff to find out everything we could possibly know about the former Falcons general manager of 12 years. D. Orlando Ledbetter, Falcons beat writer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, joined us for 30 minutes to talk about Dimitroff, former Falcons assistant GM Scott Pioli, and the Falcons’ own general manager search.
Topics ranged from Dimitroff’s best signings, worst failures, current reputation throughout the league, and much, much more. Ledbetter also gives us the insight into who is at the top of the Falcons’ list, and why Rick Smith may be hard to pry away from Atlanta. We also get more into Pioli, who appears to be a serious candidate for the Lions, as well.
Check it out.
Note: If you’re looking for the “Trader Thomas” post Ledbetter speaks of—which breaks down all of Dimitroff’s draft-day trades, here’s the article he’s referencing.
You can also catch a replay of our interview with Ledbetter on our YouTube page on via Twitch. Don’t forget to subscribe to both channels to make sure you don’t miss our next live broadcasts!
