Thursday open thread: Which Lions player are you most excited about for 2021?

Let’s get excited.

Recently there’s been a lot of talk about how many foundational or blue chip players the Lions have going forward. The unfortunate reality for the Lions is you can probably count all of them on a single hand.

But I don’t want to go too negative. It is the holiday season after all. So today’s question of the day is:

Which Lions player are you most excited about for 2021?

My answer: D’Andre Swift

He may not be considered “foundational” yet, but Swift is one of the few players that can transcend any offense or scheme that he gets thrown into. He’s also one of the few young, talented guys that the Lions can build around going forward.

It hasn’t been a perfect season for Swift. Most people remember him for his last second drop in Week 1 which cost the Lions a victory against the Bears. But he’s also had his share of memorable games including solid outings against the Jaguars and Washington Football Team.

One of my favorite Swift plays came last week against the Titans. It was such a simple example of the types of plays (and players) the Lions need more of.

It’s a run that many current and former Lions’ running backs probably get tackled on, but Swift was able to make the play.

It seems so simple, but with a roster full of players who can’t and don’t make many individual plays, it’s refreshing to see a guy make a positive impact. I’m excited to see what Swift can look like for the Lions in a bigger role next year as well.

Your turn.
