Friday open thread: Which Lions-Buccaneers players will boom and bust in fantasy this week?

The finals are here!

Congrats to those of you playing for a championship this weekend! Fantasy always has an element of luck, but there is plenty of skill needed to make the finals, so never take an appearance in Week 16 for granted. I am a firm believer in starting your studs, but there are a few Lions and Buccaneers that might make your decisions tough this weekend.

While Matthew Stafford (QB18) has been extremely gutsy, I am not sure if he is who I want leading my team into the finals. I would much rather trust D’Andre Swift (RB13) or T.J. Hockenson (TE4), who give the Detroit offense some hope for the future. I would be targeting both players next season.

For Tampa, Tom Brady (QB9) and Mike Evans (WR14) look like a decent stack. They may not be an elite duo, but the pair will perform against the Lions. With Ronald Jones out, Leonard Fournette (RB15) is more than serviceable and should be started with confidence. Rob Gronkowski (TE10) is a fine dart throw if you do not have a top option at the position.

Today’s Question of the Day is:

Which Lions-Buccaneers players will boom and bust in fantasy this week?

My answer:

I have been tough on Marvin Jones (WR18), but if Stafford is out there and Kenny Golladay is missing, he should be a good start. The numbers show a bit of boom-or-best for the veteran receiver, but ultimately he is the type of player that can help you win your matchup out of your WR3 or Flex spot.

I aim not as high on Chris Godwin (WR20) who epitomizes the Bucs’ offense this season. While Tampa has been solid, the scoring has been lower than advertised and somewhat of a letdown from a fantasy perspective. Godwin is still startable, but I just do not feel that excited about using him in the most important week of the season.
