This Detroit Lions team is the same team it was last week, yet at the same time the comparison between the two is like night and day. While they’ve got the same pieces, this team is playing inspired football, something that can do serious damage to their opponents in December.
Question of the day: How many more games will the Lions win in the 2020 season?
My answer: I’ll be optimistic here and bank on two.
I think three is entirely possible, but not a chance at four barring a miracle. It’s also entirely possible we see zero—after all, as I just said, you can’t change the composition of the team overnight.
Nonetheless, Duron Harmon said this week that the Lions were trying to change what they did on defense, and cornerback Amani Oruwariye said it took them until the second half to get settled in the new style.
If that defense ages well and shakes off the marks of Matt Patricia’s stubbornness, it could complement a revamped offense very well. I see the Vikings game as very winnable. The Buccaneers are a wild card as to how they play on any given Sunday. The Titans are a long shot, but they did just get exposed by the Browns. I see this week’s matchup against the Packers as the most difficult one left.
Your turn. How many more games will the Lions win this season?
