The Chiefs are kings of the 2019 season, but who will take the crown next year?

NFL: Super Bowl LIV-San Francisco 49ers vs Kansas City Chiefs Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

It was another exciting season of the National Football League, and we were treated to an equally exciting finale.

The Kansas City Chiefs rallied from a 20-10 deficit late in the fourth quarter to emerge victorious over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. The 49ers were looking strong for a majority of the game, but as the Detroit Lions learned back in Week 4, it is hard to stop Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense. San Francisco’s defensive line was creative havoc all night long, and Mahomes was seeing ghosts en route to two interceptions. Everything changed in the fourth quarter, with Kansas City putting up 21 points in the quarter, the dagger being a 38-yard touchdown run by Damien Williams.

Looking ahead towards the 2020 season, there are plenty of teams to be excited about. The Chiefs are primed to compete again for the title, with an offseason ahead to build around Mahomes and add to their defense. Sticking in the AFC, the Patriots are always threats with Tom Brady at the helm (assuming he returns), although their window might be closing soon. The MVP of the 2019 season, Lamar Jackson, will look to build upon a breakout year as a dual-threat weapon on the Ravens’ offense. Add in the Titans, Texans, Bills, and Steelers, and the AFC could boast a competitive year.

Meanwhile in the NFC, the 49ers will have redemption on their minds, and they have the talent to return to the Super Bowl. The NFC West figures to be showdown yet again, as the Seahawks and Rams should threaten for the division title, while the Cardinals have a lot of promise with Kyler Murray. The Cowboys and Eagles will duke it out for the NFC East, and the Saints should be in control of the South (assuming Drew Brees returns).

Parity in the NFL is at a great spot right now, and even after an exciting season, multiple teams are in position to battle for the crown.

Today’s Question of the Day is:

Who will win the Super Bowl next season?

My answer: I think the 49ers will win the Super Bowl next season. They have some crucial free agents upcoming — Arik Armstead, Jimmie Ward, and Kyle Juszczyk among them — but their core should return. With Kyle Shanahan’s offense and Robert Saleh’s defense (assuming he does not receive a new head coaching gig), they are in a great situation to repeat. The NFC will be competitive yet again, but they showcased their skills as a complete team. They should only get better next year.

Of course, this is assuming the Lions don’t win it all. I believe.
