A couple weeks ago, it looked like the Detroit Lions may be headed to London to play the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons announced they were headed overseas for a game in 2020, and rumors suggested either the Lions or Broncos would be their opponent. However, Falcons owner Arthur Blank has since announced that he believes the Broncos will be their London opponent.

But on Tuesday, the NFL announced that the Jacksonville Jaguars will become the first team to host back-to-back games in London for the 2020 season, and that means the Lions are back in the race for a European trip.

The Lions are scheduled to play the Jaguars on the road this upcoming season, and while Jacksonville has not announced their London opponents yet, they did say that their home games against the Bears and Steelers will remain in Florida. That means two of the following six Jaguars opponents will be traveling to London: the Lions, Texans, Colts, Titans, Browns, and Dolphins.

Detroit hasn’t traveled to London since 2015, when they were blown out by the Chiefs 45-10. The only other time they played in the NFL International Series was the previous year, when they mounted a comeback from a 21-point deficit against the Falcons in 2014 to win 22-21.

The last time the Lions and Jaguars faced off, Detroit defeated Jacksonville 26-19 back in 2016.
