A key part of building a roster is finding what I’ll call “Game Plan“ players. These are guys that opposing teams specifically game plan around every Sunday.
I can’t think of very many players on the entire Detroit Lions roster that scare anyone.
Off the top my head I could only think of three players:
- Matthew Stafford
- Darius Slay
- Kenny Golladay
Even worse, the Lions are actively fielding trade offers for Darius Slay. So that trio could quickly be down to two.
Now, I’m not saying that we should expect every player on the roster to be a game-changing player, but today, let’s discuss who the Lions have on the roster and where they might look in free agency.
How many “Game Plan“ players do the Lions have?
Right now I’m sticking with the three guys I listed above. Ideally guys like Trey Flowers, T.J. Hockenson, and Da’Shawn Hand become those types of players.
The most disappointing might be Flowers. The Lions went out and spent big money last year, and yet, I’m not sure there are very many teams specifically planning to stop Flowers.
What do you think? Did I miss someone? Which players do you think are the Lions “Game Plan“ players and who might be next on the list?
