It’s draft week, and that means folks are only adding gasoline to the fire. If you thought things were getting wild last week, buckle down for all the rumors, mishaps, and meltdowns that’ll happen in these last 36 hours.
Rumors are coming out of nowhere about seemingly every team. In the last week, word has come afloat at some point that Washington (pick 2), Detroit (pick 3), New York (Giants — pick 4), and Miami (pick 5) each want to trade down.
Question of the day: Which team will be the first to trade down in the first round?
My answer: I think I gotta go with Washington.
As much allure as there is in drafting Chase Young, they have holes all over their roster with the exception of defensive line. Pairing him with 2019 first-round pick Montez Sweat would be fun for Ron Rivera, but not worthwhile.
Their team has too many holes and not nearly enough talent to set up second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins for success, and if Rivera can recognize that I think he’ll be more inclined to accumulate draft capital and build a team around his quarterback.
Your turn.
