Thursday open thread: Who will be the Lions’ first-round pick?

Give us your prediction for the Lions in the first round.

NCAA Football: Senior Bowl Vasha Hunt-USA TODAY Sports

So far this offseason we’ve all taken our best guess at who the Detroit Lions will take with the third overall pick. We’ve shared who we think they shouldn’t take. We’ve looked over basically every mock draft we could find. Heck, we even threw names into a hat.

But today, all that speculation goes away. Today is draft day. The 2020 NFL Draft will begin tonight, Thursday, April 23 at 8 p.m. ET.

We’ll finally get some clarity to all of the rumors and speculation we’ve had to endure over the last few months. Will the Lions stay put or trade out? Will they take a perceived need like a cornerback or defensive tackle, or shock everyone with an offensive player?

We’ve talked about this for months, and now it’s time to make one final prediction.

Today’s Question of the Day is:

Who do you think the Detroit Lions will select with their first-round pick?

My answer: Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn

As a reminder, this is who I think the Lions will pick, not who I want them to pick. I’ve been staunchly against drafting Brown with the third overall pick. I’m not convinced the value he brings warrants using a top-five pick.

But, I also know the Lions want to get stronger and build their team through their offensive and defensive lines.

There have also been several rumors as of late linking the Lions and Brown.

I wouldn’t love the pick, but that’s where my head tells me the Lions will go on draft day.

Your turn.
