It’s finally draft day and for Detroit Lions fans, it’s almost as exciting as the Super Bowl. This year, in particular, is especially exciting because the Lions hold the third overall pick. Whether that nets them an elite, top-tier player or a haul of extra draft picks remains the best-kept secret at this point.
The pressure is on the current regime to get the most out of this rare opportunity, because this could very well be a make-or-break season for everyone in the front office of the organization. With back-to-back last place finishes in the division under head coach Matt Patricia, ownership is understandably running out of patience for this full “culture change.”
But after an extremely busy free agency period, the Lions now have more draft capital than anyone else in the NFC North, which means they stand to benefit most from this weekend’s draft. Even with the technological complications and the shortened scouting season, the Lions have the draft picks, the added knowledge that hosting the Senior Bowl offered, and the full coaching staff they desire to finally nail an NFL Draft from front to back.
So how can you claim witness to this year’s undoubtedly interesting NFL Draft. The NFL is pulling out all of the stops with options to watch on TV or online. Additionally, we’ll be hosting our own draft show for the first two nights of the NFL Draft.
