With the long-awaited 2020 NFL Draft spectacle finally coming to a close, we now have a better idea of where the Lions roster will stand at the start of the regular season. They were able to address a lot of needs on defense this offseason despite letting some star talent go and then turned a lot of their focus to the offense, specifically the run game, in the middle rounds of the draft.
The reception from fans has been mostly very positive toward the Lions’ draft haul, especially the first four picks. In our most recent poll, 85 percent of Pride Of Detroit readers gave this draft class a “B” grade or higher.
Today’s Question of the Day is:
What is your favorite pick from this year’s draft class?
My answer: I’ve got to go with my guy Julian Okwara. I was very impressed with his tape at Notre Dame and had him ranked as the third best edge rusher in this year’s class. I think he’s a perfect fit for Matt Patricia’s defense as a JACK linebacker and has the elite pass rushing traits that we haven’t had at that spot since this regime took over.

Okwara also offers size and versatility and has the ability line up with his hand in the dirt if need be. As a run defender, he’s still a work in progress and that’s okay. I think he can step in immediately as a pass rushing specialist and hone his craft as a run defender and work on his coverage skills to add even more value to the defense.
