Oddsmakers have his over/under at 625 yards.

The Lions’ second round selection of D’Andre Swift in the 2020 NFL Draft was a big surprise, to say the least. It was met with mixed reactions which, for Lions fans, is warranted. They have a history of second round running backs not panning out—including Kerryon Johnson, who I’m not gonna bet on a turnaround given his lack of success thus far. The list includes Kerryon Johnson, Ameer Abdullah, and Mikel LeShoure, and you might as well throw Jahvid Best in there since he was picked 30th overall.

There is hope, however. The Lions revamped their offensive line this offseason and oddsmakers have D’Andre Swift as having the third best odds of winning Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Question of the day: How many rushing yards will D’Andre Swift have in 2020?

My answer: I’ll say 700.

As of right now, the Vegas over/under is set at 625, per BetOnline.ag. For comparison’s sake, Clyde Edwards-Helaire is set at 950 total yards while Jonathan Taylor’s over/under is set at 550 rushing yards.

If he’s splitting time with Kerryon Johnson, I don’t see Swift eclipsing 550. However, I don’t trust Johnson to stay healthy the entire year, and if he falls off with another injury, Swift becomes the clear number one back. Likewise, if Swift just has a successful start, he could evolve into the offense’s bellcow.

What do you think? How many rushing yards will D’Andre Swift have in 2020? Will he cover the over/under? Let us know in the comments.
