There’s no doubt Matthew Stafford was playing at an MVP level last season before a back injury derailed his season. In fact, he was was top five in nearly every QBR stat in 2019.
Whether it’s because he’s never won a playoff game or because he was a former number one draft pick or because he’s A TON of money, people always seem to grade Stafford more harshly than he probably deserves.
Unfortunately for Stafford, he’s also been plagued with zero run game, mediocre offensive coordinators, and bottom of the NFL defensive help.
So obviously it’s not all on Stafford.
But that leads me to today’s question of the day:
Where does Matthew Stafford rank among NFL quarterbacks?
My answer: #4
1. Patrick Mahomes
2. Russell Wilson
3. Lamar Jackson
4. Matthew Stafford
5. Aaron Rodgers
6. Deshaun Watson
7. Drew Brees
8. Tom Brady
9. Carson Wentz
10. Kirk Cousins
Look, I know I’m biased, and probably splitting hairs with some of this, but Stafford absolutely deserves to be in the conversation with the top quarterbacks in the NFL.
Put Stafford on the Rams. How much better is that team? How about on the 49ers?
The moral of the story is Stafford could make about 20+ teams better immediately.
What do you think? What are your quarterback rankings? Let us know if the comments.
