Notes: Jaguars confirm Detroit Lions would’ve played in London this season

The Lions would’ve played in London this year had COVID-19 not spread worldwide.

Due to the uncertain nature of international travel amidst the coronavirus pandemic, the NFL was forced to postpone their international series of games for the entire 2020 season. Prior to the breakout, the NFL was scheduled to play four games in London this year, plus an additional contest in Mexico City.

The Detroit Lions were rumored to be one of the team slated to play in London this year in one of two contests hosted by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Those rumors really started to heat up near the 2020 official schedule drop but were never 100% confirmed. However, the Jaguars essentially confirmed it in a recent letter sent out to their season ticket holders:

It’s unclear if the Lions will get another chance at playing in London in the near future, but they aren’t scheduled to play an away game against the Jaguars for another eight years.
