The NFL announced Monday that this year’s international series of games would be cancelled, including the Detroit Lions’ matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. While it was undoubtedly the right move, it brought mixed reactions and resurfaced the endless debate over whether fans enjoy London games or would rather do without them.
Question of the day: Do you like NFL games in London?
My answer: I personally like them.
I get to start my NFL Sunday as early as 9 a.m. ET, which I think is so much fun. If the Lions win, I get to soak in the win the rest of the day. If they lose, I still get to root against their rivals the rest of the day, but I will concede that it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Obviously, having a 9 a.m. Lions game every week would be terrible, but once every year or two is a treat, in my opinion.
I get that there are downsides such as the travel to London, potentially missing out on a home game (although I don’t think that has been a problem for Lions fans so much as it is perennially for Jaguars fans), and if you’re not a morning person, it can be a hassle.
