The Detroit Lions had a shift at the top of the organization this week, as team owner Martha Firestone Ford stepped down and bequeathed the team to her daughter Sheila Ford Hamp. Immediately, we got to hear from Ford Hamp about her plans for the organization, the inspiration she found from her mother, and the kind of person she is.
On the latest PODcast, we discussed the move and how we expect it to affect the team going forward. We break down Ford Hamp’s introductory press conferences and our biggest takeaways from her first session with the media.
Then we turn our attention back to Martha Firestone Ford. While she only owned the team for six years, she certainly made an impression on Lions fans—both good and bad. Myself and Ryan Mathews discuss her legacy with the team and how we may look back on her time as Lions owner five, 10 or even 20 years down the line. We note her biggest achievements and some of the most notable mistakes she may have made.
