As the NFL and NFL Players Association close in on a deal, it appears the Detroit Lions will report to camp starting next week. Rookies are schedule to show up next Tuesday for preliminary COVID-19 testing, and once (if?) that all gets cleared up, it will be conditioning time.
Although training camp will be technically open next week, actual practices are still likely at least a few weeks off from actually happening. And when those practices actually take place, the media coverage will be much different—and much more sparse—than a normal year.
Still, it’s almost unbelievable to think that the regular season is currently scheduled to start just over seven weeks from today, and the players haven’t even taken the field together once this offseason. Oof, just typing those words made me feel a lot less optimistic about this whole thing.
But we here at the PODcast are going to try and keep things optimistic as this week we take on Part 2 of the Detroit Lions training camp preview. We’ll be focusing on the defensive side of the ball for this episode, which will be... different.
But after we’re done breaking things down, we finish with the mailbag. That’s where we answer any and all of your questions about the Lions or anything else on your mind. So in the comment section below or via Twitter using the hashtag #AskPOD, send us your best and most creative questions.
Then on Monday night at 8 p.m. ET on our Twitch channel, come watch the PODcast LIVE! Or, of course, you can catch us on whatever podcast platform you like and even YouTube!
