Thursday open thread: Which NFL free agent should the Lions sign for 2020?

Who is left that could make an impact?

Bob Quinn met with the media this week on a video conference call and essentially said the Lions wouldn’t be signing free agent players any time soon.

“As it stands right now, we cannot bring a player in for a tryout,” Quinn said. “We cannot bring a free agent player in for a tryout as it stands right now. The league is working on this, and they’re supposed to be letting us know how we can do that.”

Even with the league still undecided on how to handle free agents, there are still several high-quality players on the market.

That brings us to today’s question of the day:

Which NFL free agent should the Lions sign for 2020?

My answer: Everson Griffen

Here are just a few of the top names still on the market:

  • Jadeveon Clowney, DE
  • Larry Warford, G
  • Logan Ryan, CB
  • Everson Griffen, DE
  • Darqueze Dennard, CB
  • Eric Reid, S
  • Mike Daniels, DT

To me, Griffen stands out above the entire pack. He’s getting older but still produces at a high level. Last season he had eight sacks, 11 tackles for loss, and 24 quarterback hits in 15 games.

Your turn.
