We’re keeping yesterday’s good vibes rolling with today’s question of the day. Let’s get right to it.
Question of the day: What’s your favorite encounter with a professional athlete?
My answer: I’m sure some of you will have very grand stories of your encounters, but mine was simply a nice morning at training camp. Back in late summer of 2017, I went to my first training camp practice and brought with me a cheap NFL ball and a silver sharpie, and it produced some of my favorite Lions memories.
I took up what turned out to be a very good strategy of getting autographs from less popular players and chose quantity over quality. I still got to see some of my favorites, like Matt Prater and Glover Quin. However, I passed up superstars like Matthew Stafford for lesser known players like Jamal Agnew — heck, that guy won’t amount to much on the Lions roster, will he?
Jim Caldwell also took the time to take a selfie with me which I still treasure to this day. His performance as head coach aside (heck, it wasn’t even bad), he’s a heck of a man, and I really value the principles and manners he established in his tenure with the Lions.
That day was really fun for me and a memory I’ll treasure for a long time. What’s yours?
