For the better part of a decade, the Minnesota Vikings have had one of the most feared defenses in the entire NFL. With pass rushers that would terrorize opposing quarterback and opportunistic defensive backs, you’d be lucky to hang 20 points on them in any given week.
On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers didn’t hang 20 on them. They didn’t hang 30 on them. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense obliterated the Vikings defense to the tune of 43 points—and they probably could’ve had even more. It was the most points the Vikings have allowed since 2011.
So this week on our First Byte preview podcast, we got Acme Packing Company’s Tex Western to help us break down the Packers offense and everything else about this 2020 team. Has the Aaron Rodgers of old returned? What’s with these receivers suddenly being huge matchup problems? And is there any way to stop them?
We break down all the important matchups for this Week 2 showdown, including an extremely favorable matchup for the Detroit Lions that they will likely try to exploit this Sunday. And, of course, myself, Ryan Mathews and Tex provide our predictions at the end of the show.
