The Detroit Lions will be missing another starter in a key Week 2 matchup versus the Green Bay Packers, as defensive tackle Nick Williams has been ruled out of Sunday’s game, adding to the ever-growing list of wounded Lions.
With Williams out of the lineup, Detroit is set to be without three of their Week 1 starters on defense in Week 2. Cornerback Desmond Trufant is set to miss the game as well, while nickel Justin Coleman is currently on injured reserve. Detroit will also be without two key offensive pieces in wide receiver Kenny Golladay and guard Joe Dahl.
Da’Shawn Hand and Danny Shelton will play in relief of Williams, with rookie John Penisini taking a larger role in a defensive line unit currently without any depth. However, the Lions could call up either Frank Herron or Kevin Strong rom the practice squad.
Williams made his Detroit Lions debut in Week 1. He notched two tackles in what proved to be a rough introduction to his new team.
