Based on the first two weeks of the 2020 season—and really the two years before that—the Detroit Lions would have trouble stopping a bundle of feathers. Unfortunately, they’ve got a much tougher task, as Kyler Murray and the aggressive Cardinals offense is on the slate for Week 3, and it looks like trouble.
But Murray is far from a perfect quarterback. He’s still quite young and susceptible to mistakes. The Lions may not be the team to exploit this, but we were still curious about the Cardinals and how to slow them nonetheless.
So we spoke to former NFL tight end and current co-host of the “Bleav in Cardinals” podcast Ed Smith to get to know the Cardinals better.
The Cardinals offense has drawn most of the attention this season, but what about their defense? Statistically they’ve been much better in 2020, but is that a result of the opponents they’ve played or actual improvement? And how has our good friend Devon Kennard looked in Arizona? Did the Lions make a mistake in not drafting Isaiah Simmons? Smith gives us the breakdown of how the rookie linebacker/safety has done with the Cardinals.
Of course, then Ryan, Ed and I break down some key matchups for Sunday’s game, and make some predictions on what will happen.
