Detroit Lions rookie cornerback Jeff Okudah will get a chance at redemption after his shaky Week 2 debut. On Saturday, the Lions downgraded starting cornerback Desmond Trufant to OUT vs. the Arizona Cardinals due to a hamstring injury he suffered in the season opener against the Chicago Bears. Trufant was able to return to practice this week, but he was still limited and Detroit initially listed him as doubtful.
That means on Sunday, the Lions will go into Arizona with Okudah and second-year cornerback Amani Oruwariye as their two starting outside cornerbacks. That’s a tough assignment for both young corners, as they will be matched up against the likes of DeAndre Hopkins, Larry Fitzgerald and Andy Isabella with young phenom Kyler Murray at quarterback.
Through two games, the Lions pass defense has struggled, giving up a passer rating of 105.7, five touchdowns and zero interceptions to Aaron Rodgers and Mitchell Trubisky.
That all being said, the fact that starting wide receiver Kenny Golladay traveled with the team is likely a good sign he’ll make his 2020 debut against the Cardinals.
Here is the updated injury report for both teams:
