Sunday Night Football open thread: Packers at Saints

It’s a battle of two Hall of Fame quarterbacks on Sunday night.

NFL: New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints were both 13-3 last season, and they have similar aspirations in 2020. But first, they will have to face each other on Sunday Night Football.

The Packers are entering the game 2-0 after a dominant win over the Detroit Lions in Week 2. Aaron Jones went off, totaling over 230 yards as both the leading rusher and receiver. The Saints figure to put up more of a fight than the Lions, but Jones is a dangerous weapon for Aaron Rodgers. However, his primary target is injured, as Davante Adams is nursing a hamstring injury. Will the likes of Allen Lazard or Marquez Valdes-Scantling step up in his stead?

The Saints had a rough outing versus the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 2, surprisingly falling to the underdog on Monday Night Football. Drew Brees certainly looked like a 41-year old quarterback, and missing Michael Thomas doesn’t help. Much like the Packers, they have relied on their multifaceted running back, Alvin Kamara. Kamara was the leading rusher and receiver against the Raiders, although Tre’Quan Smith added 86 yards behind him. The defense has another touch task ahead of them.
