The Detroit Lions are cutting wide receiver Tom Kennedy, according to ESPN’s Michael Rothstein.
For the second straight offseason, Kennedy had a solid training camp, but just like last year, he was going to have an uphill climb to make the roster. With Danny Amendola returning this year, and Jamal Agnew—who transitioned from cornerback this offseason—looking extremely comfortable at the slot position, there just wasn’t much room for Kennedy to squeeze onto the roster.
But like last year, Kennedy has a really good chance to stick around on the team’s practice squad, which has increased in size from 10 to 16 this year. In 2019, Kennedy was promoted to the active squad for one game, even logging seven special teams snaps. This year could look a lot similar for Kennedy if he decides to stick around on the team’s practice squad.
We’re keeping track of all the Lions’ roster moves right here.
