The Detroit Lions made a somewhat surprising move on Saturday, parting ways with 2020 fifth-round pick Jason Huntley. After a promising training camp, the running back seemed like a good candidate to bring back on the practice squad. However, the Lions will not get that chance.
Huntley was claimed by the Philadelphia Eagles, meaning they will be awarded the running back immediately.
Of course, the Lions appear set at running back right now, especially after reportedly signing Adrian Peterson earlier on Sunday morning. Peterson will join rookie second-round pick D’Andre Swift and Kerryon Johnson as the top backs in Detroit’s offense.
As of now, it appears the Lions did not make any waiver claims and no other Lions cuts were claimed by other teams. That means, starting at 1 p.m. ET, the Lions—along with all 31 other teams—will start adding players to their 16-man practice squad.
