Friday open thread: What is one thing you want to see on Sunday?

The 2020 season is mercifully coming to an end.

Welp. Another year, another wasted 17 games. Expectations were modest heading into 2020, but this is certainly not the outcome many foresaw. Matthew Stafford was coming back healthy with hopes of carrying on his 2019 output, and while Matt Patricia’s job was up in the air, it looked like he would put his best effort forward to save himself.

Obviously that is not how it played out, and once again the Lions have failed to play meaningful games in December. Sunday’s finale against Minnesota counts for nothing but draft position (as is tradition), and many fans will be thankful to see this disappointing year finally come to a close.

Today’s Question of the Day is:

What is one thing you want to see on Sunday?

My answer:

If this truly is the end for Stafford, it would certainly be great to see him one last time in Honolulu Blue. However, given his current state, it seems unwise and unfair to put him out there. The quarterback has given his all for this franchise, and the number of injuries he continues to rack up is heartbreaking.

What I am most interested in watching this weekend are the upcoming free agents. Marvin Jones Jr. headlines the way, and the Lions are likely to have a much different wide receiver corps next year. This could also be the end for Jarrad Davis, as well as players like Adrian Peterson, Danny Amendola, and Jalen Reeves-Maybin among others. Whoever steps into the front office is sure to make some big changes to the roster during the offseason.
