The Detroit Lions officially hired Brad Holmes as their next general manager on Thursday night. But since then, it’s been fairly quiet in Allen Park. There has been no introductory press conference introducing Holmes to the media, nor anything out of owner Sheila Ford Hamp or team president Rod Wood outside of brief written statements.

However, on Friday afternoon, Holmes finally spoke, offering a quick message via the Lions’ official Instagram account:

“Lions fans, hello!” Holmes starts off with a big smile. “This is Brad Holmes, new general manager for the Detroit Lions. Excited to get to work. Looking forward to building this team with the collaborative approach and efforts to deliver a winner to this great city of Detroit, this passionate fanbase, and to uplift the community. One Pride.”

It’s not much, but it’s good to see something, and you can certainly see a glimpse of Holmes’ infectious enthusiasm and personality.
